A Riley County Emergency Medical Services emergency medical technician has tested positive for COVID-19.
RCEMS was notified of the positive test result on August 14th, just two days after the employee was last on duty on August 12th.
According to RCEMS, while the employee did interact with the public during their shift, they were asymptomatic at the time and followed CDC guidelines.
An investigation into the case has revealed that the employee was exposed to a person with COVID-19 on August 10th at a school-board event in Pottawatomie County.
There are currently no signs that COVID-19 has been spread to other emergency-services workers, but tests are being conducted to verify.
Anyone who was exposed to the RCEMS employee has been contacted.
