A 39-year-old man was found guilty by a jury of first degree attempted murder after shooting multiple times at a vehicle while driving along K-18 during a domestic dispute in October of 2021.
Torrey Lindsay has been in Riley County District Court since Tuesday, and closing arguments were delivered Friday before jurors were sent to deliberate.
Assistant County Attorney Trinity Muth concluded the state’s case by claiming the defendant lacks credibility, a witness statement corroborates the victim’s story, the defendant has ties to Kentucky where the gun allegedly used was purchased, gunshot residue was found on Lindsay and in his vehicle and bullet fragments were located inside the victim’s car.
The defense stated that the victim has provided inconsistent statements, there is insufficient evidence tying Lindsay to the weapon, the witness was too far away to clearly see and the gunshot residue is likely a result of transfer.
Lindsay was also found guilty of robbery, aggravated assault, aggravated battery, criminal discharge of a weapon and aggravated intimidation of a witness. He was also charged with an additional count of aggravated assault but was found not guilty.
Some of these charges stem from a separate incident in June of 2021 involving the same victim.
