The Wamego City Commission reviewed the tax abatements on two businesses.
At Tuesday’s meeting, City Manager Merl Page reviewed the annual tax abatement renewals for Homestead Housing and Caterpillar Work Tools.
According to Page, both entities are sent a renewal application from the County, that’s completed and sent back to the City, who must verify the facilities are being used for the intended purpose of the original abatement.
Both Homestead Housing and Caterpillar qualified for the renewal.
In other business:
Page received a request to transition mowers from Parks and Cemetery Supervisor Shad Hufnagel.
Hufnagel stated the mowers have high-end usage of 1400 hours, which reduces the trade-in value.
He said the optimal value is about 700 hours.
Page said there is an opportunity to purchase a new Grasshopper, and after selling one of the mowers and trading the other, the new effect is $8,794.25.
Approval was given to move forward with the purchase.
