A Manhattan truck driver was sentenced to 12 months in the Riley County Jail for vehicular homicide.
Ethan Butts, 21, was involved in a three-vehicle accident on Feb. 13, 2016, that took the life of 30-year-old Jenna Lindsten of Manhattan.
The accident happened at the intersection of Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Marlatt Avenue.
Butts was the driver of a semi-truck that ran a red light and struck Lindsten’s car, causing it to spin into northbound lanes and hit a pickup driven by 42-year-old Quinton Huncovsky, another Manhattan resident.
Lindsten was initially taken to Via Christi Hospital in Manhattan. She was later flown to Topeka. Neither Huncovsky or Butts were sent to the hospital for any serious injuries.
All three people in the accident were wearing their seatbelts.
A report by the Kansas Highway Patrol said Butts’ semi-truck was operating on brakes that were out of service.
