KMAN has learned a 31-year-old Manhattan man found severely beaten near Aggieville late Thursday night has died from his injuries.
RCPD Lt. Richard Fink said Kevin Cockrum succumbed to his injuries around 8:40 a.m. Friday and was pronounced dead at Via Christi Health in Wichita.
Cockrum was found near the north side of the 1000 block of Moro Street unconcious. He was first taken to Mercy Regional Health Center with what police described as life-threatening head injuries, then flown to Wichita.
Riley County Police are officially classifying the case a homicide and are requesting assistance from anyone who has information regarding the three African American males seen leaving the area in a white vehicle around the time of attack.
