WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Spirit AeroSystems and a union for some of its employees will resume negotiations next week with a federal mediator observing.
The talks are scheduled to resume next Thursday.
SPEEA, the union that represents 2,300 professional and technical employees, last month rejected the Wichita aircraft manufacturer’s contract offer and asked for the mediator.
The Wichita Eagle reports that the mediator is only observing this round of talks, in case the negotiations do not go well.
Union members said they rejected Spirit’s contract offer because it capped salary pools, offered no wage guarantees or cost-of-living increases, included lower bonuses than that for other salaried officials and increased health insurance costs.
