BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – For the second straight season, both Petra Niedermayerova and Karla Bonacic advanced out of the quarterfinals of the Adidas Hoosier Classic at the IU Tennis Center on Friday. In addition to the two singles wins, K-State also picked up a doubles victory in the afternoon.

Niedermayerova, ranked No. 35 in the preseason Campbell/ITA national singles rankings, picked up her second straight win by dispatching of Abilene Christian’s Julia Mongin, 6-1, 6-0, in the first flight. The sophomore of Brno, Czech Republic, is now 2-1 this season and 26-11 in her career. In straight set matches, she is 21-6 for her career and 2-0 this season. Niedermayerova will face No. 56 Maho Kowase of Georgia on Saturday in the singles semifinals.

Bonacic advanced to the semifinals of the first flight by defeating No. 39 Leslie Hureau of Indiana, 6-4, 3-2 (ret.). This was Bonacic’s first action of the fall season, as the junior from Split, Croatia, improved her overall career mark to 34-24. Bonacic will face No. 9 Chelsey Gullickson of Georgia in Saturday’s semifinal.

In doubles, Niedermayerova and freshman Marketa Trousilova advanced a round with an 8-4 victory over Evgeniya Vertesheva and Kayla Fujimoto of Indiana. Niedermayerova and Trousilova were defeated in their second match together by the Notre Dame duo of Jennifer Kellner and Chrissie McGaffigan, 8-1.

Kansas State will continue action at the Adidas Hoosier Classic on Saturday morning, beginning with singles play at 10 a.m.
