The Manhattan Christian College men’s soccer team secured a 3-1-road victory over Southwestern College (NAIA) Tuesday night.
After a 0-0 first half, MCC junior forward Zack Watkins open the game’s scoring in the 51st minute scoring from 20 yards out. Southwestern leveled the score in the 76th minute from a deflected shot, which sailed over sophomore goalkeeper Ricky Wiseman.
MCC regained the lead in the 78th minute, when Watkins scored his second of the night with an assist from senior midfielder Kris Morrison. MCC’s captain Nathan Love headed in a Jordan Murphy free kick in the 82nd minute to seal the road victory for the crusaders.
MCC finished the match with 17 shots to Southwestern’s 10. MCC had 2 corners while Southwestern also had 2. The Crusaders now hold a 4-4-0 overall record for the season.
The Crusaders will travel to St. Louis, Missouri to play St. Louis Christian College on Saturday, October 1st. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
