On Wednesday afternoon motions were made to admit two key pieces of evidence for the trial of Luis Aguirre at Riley County District Court.
Aguirre is charged with capital murder in the deaths of 18-year old Tanya Maldonado and her 15-month old son, Juan Luis Maldonado in October of 2009.
The motions involved email correspondence between the defendant and Tanya Maldonado, and statements from friends and family of the victim the prosecution believed to be pertinent to the trial.
Judge Meryl Wilson admitted the emails into evidence, and stated that they were “important and relevant” to the case.
Judge Wilson denied the motion to allow the statements from the friends and family of the victim.
The next motions hearing is set for the 2nd of December at 2pm.
