A plane crash in Riley county caused a lot of concern Saturday evening, but injuries of the two in the aircraft were reportedly minor. The 2003 Rans S-7 Courier fixed wing aircraft was taking off from a runway in the area of Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Madison, when the plane’s engine died and the pilot was unable to restart the engine.

The pilot has been identified as Maurice Sharp,69, of Wakefield. He and passenger, Adler Pierson,10, also of Wakefield, were taken to Mercy Regional health center. A Mercy spokeswoman indicates Sharp was transferred to another facility.

The crash was reported at about 5:20 Saturday evening.
