WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A Wichita woman was found not guilty by reason of mental disease in the stabbing death of a friend.
A Sedgwick County District Court jury on Wednesday found Catie Collins not guilty of second-degree murder in the death of 20-year-old Boston Sicard last year.
The jury found Collins guilty of misdemeanor battery.
Collins’ attorney argued during the trial that Collins believed she was acting in self-defense when she stabbed Sicard on Sept. 11, 2010 during an argument.
The Wichita Eagle reports that testimony during the trial indicated Collins suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, bipolar disorder and was a sexual assault victim as a child.
