TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) A suspect is in custody in the Christmas Eve slaying of a Topeka liquor store clerk.
The Topeka Capital-Journal (http://bit.ly/w4AFl4 ) reported that the 44-year-old man was arrested at 3:30 p.m. Thursday and booked into the Shawnee County Jail. He is being held on suspicion of aggravated robbery and first-degree murder in the death of in the death of 41-year-old Matthew Hill.
Surveillance video had shown a man entering Hudson Liquor Store last Saturday and beating Hill with a pry bar before shooting him. The suspect also is accused of stealing money from the cash register and a gift box of Jim Beam bourbon.
Friends had put up a $2,000 reward for information in the killing.
