The sales tax collections have been tallied for December and things seem to be presenting a positive outlook for 2012 so far.
This year’s number has shown a 5.6% increase from last year, leaving the total at $895,505.
With this increase, it shows the amount to be about $56,000 above the budget.
Bernie Hayen, Manhattan Finance Director, is hopeful that the comparable holiday season from last year to this will also present positive numbers.
There was one note of caution to go along with the numbers. Wal-Mart included two extra weeks of retail sales into their receipts, which inflated the total a little.
