Riley County Police responded to the reports of a possible suicidal soldier early  Friday morning.

According to RCDP Lieutenant Josh Kyle, officers received a report of a break-in on Crestwood Drive Thursday afternoon around 4:30, where the victim heard one shot being fired.  The suspect then quickly surrendered to RCPD officers uninjured and without incident Friday morning around 8:45. Kyle says it was later determined that the suicidal person had intentionally fired the handgun in an unsuccessful attempt to harm himself.

The suspect is an associate of the victim and was reported to be suicidal. The victim has so far declined to press any charges.
