Grand opening of Flint Hills Discovery Center inching closer

The Flint Hills Discovery Center Advisory Board met Monday to discuss details involving its opening.  Director Bob Workman is excited for the grand opening coming up in a couple of months.

“One of the most important topics we discussed was our proposed membership program,” Workman says. “We’ll be selling memberships to the Discovery Center starting in March.”

The proposed membership structure will be going before the Manhattan City Commission on Feb. 28 for approval. The grand opening for the Flint Hills Discovery Center is planned for Saturday, April 14.

“We’re encouraging everyone to keep their calendars open,” Workman says. “We don’t have all the details yet, but it looks like between 10 a.m and noon will be the dedication and ribbon cutting ceremonies for Blue Earth Plaza, which is just south of the center, and then the ribbon cutting and opening of the Discovery Center, itself.”

More information on the Flint Hills Discovery Center can be found at their website.
