The sales tax receipts from the end of the holiday season are in and counted.
Manhattan Finance Director Bernie Hayen, announced the end of last week that “nearly all major retailer, auto dealers, and Manhattan Mall stores remained up compared to the same February period a year ago.”
Also, because of these strong retail sales, Hayen continued by stating that the budget is $250,000 ahead of the budget projections.
Nearly $924,000 was collected for the February reporting period, with an adjusted rate of nearly $846,000. That’s up about $43,000 from the same time last year, and well over the $740,000 budgeted amount.
The numbers represent primarily the December sales tax receipts.
