No foul play is suspected in a case Riley County police are labeling ‘an apparent suicide’
According to reports, RCPD received a call late Tuesday evening regarding an unconscious person. Officers were then dispatched to 856 S. Manhattan Avenue where upon entry they discovered Maritza Sumners, 38, not breathing. Police say it became obvious after a few minutes that Sumners was dead, with preliminary indications pointing toward drug overdose being the cause.
Sumner’s next of kin have been notified. An autopsy will be conducted at a later date to confirm the cause of death.
