Those persistent winds we’ve had lately are expected to die down a bit later today Thursday, and Riley county Fire Chief Pat Collins tells KMAN there may be an opportunity for burning by five this evening.
Collins says he’s alrady had a request from Bayer Construction to burn some trees in the area of Tuttle Creek Boulevard and Marlatt, and that likely will happen if winds die down.
Collins indicates if you smell smoke late in the day, don’t necessarily be alarmed as burning may be permitted if wind conditions permit.
A reminder that you must have a burn permit and still need to check in by calling 565-6216.
