Frankfort boys battle thru B&B to state

Two buckets inside the final minute of overtime were enough for the Frankfort boys to escape with a 55-54 victory over B&B in the 1A Division II Substate finals on Saturday night at Frankfort.  With the Falcons leading by three in OT, Calahan Brown made a reverse layup on a set play, and then a steal and layup by Lucas Adams gave the Wildcats the lead.  B&B would miss their final shot attempt and the clock ran out.  Alex Surdez led the Wildcats  with 15 points as he made five three pointers.  Jacob Broxterman added 13 points.  Cody Heiman led B&B with 20 points.

After some close calls the last few years, Frankfort is back in the state tournament since finishing third in 2A in 2007 & 2008.  The Wildcats are the #3 seed in 1A Division II, and will meet #6 seed Colony-Crest at 4:45pm on Wednesday in Hays.
