MANHATTAN, Kan. – In what was supposed to be a rebuilding year, overachieving Kansas State was awarded a bid to participate in the NCAA Women’s Championship on Monday

The Wildcats (19-13, 9-9 Big 12) were awarded the No. 8 seed in the Kingston (R.I.) Regional and will be opposed by the No. 9 seed Princeton Tigers (24-4, 14-0 Ivy League) on Saturday, March 17 at 10:20 a.m. in Bridgeport, Conn., at Webster Bank Arena.

The two schools have met just once in their respective histories. The Wildcats claimed a 63-51 win over the Tigers back on November 25, 2000, in Corvallis, Ore.

K-State will be appearing in the postseason for the 10th time in the last 11 seasons under head coach Deb Patterson. The Wildcats are 7-8 in NCAA tournament games under Patterson.

Picked to finish ninth in the Big 12 preseason poll, Kansas State opened up conference play with four consecutive wins and ended the Big 12 season with a 9-9 record. That mark earned the Wildcats a tie for fourth place in the standings with Iowa State.
