The state tournament drought is finally over for the Manhattan High girls basketball team. The Indians beat nemesis Washburn Rural 43-39 in the 6A substate finals on Friday night at Topeka High.  Elayna Spilker & Darby Price each had 11 points, and Onyeka Ehie added 10.   It’s the first appearance at state for MHS since 1991, and the first for longtime head coach Scott Mall.  He’s says this accomplishment is not about him.

MHS girls basketball will be the #4 seed in the 6A state tournament at Koch Arena in Wichita, and will play #5 seed Olathe South on Wednesday night at 8:15pm.  John Kurtz will have the call on KMAN, with pregame at 8:00 p.m.
