Pottawatomie County Commissioners were updated on several items, from roads to office closings, Monday morning.
Leu Lowrey, Pottawatomie County Public Works Director, brought updates from the Whispering Meadows Subdivision. The subdivision is getting upgrades to their streets, water, and sewer systems. Lowrey said that they have finished the sewer portion on the project and are now starting on the water. Lowrey brought updates for roads and bridges as well. Lowrey said that two new bridge projects for Jim Creek and Mission Trail Road will begin shortly. The department will have a pre-construction meeting on those two bridges Thursday.
The Pottawatomie County Appraisers brought updates from a preliminary sales study. The study looked at ratios in residential and commercial properties. Residential properties were around 97 percent where commercial properties were around 84 percent. The office brought information concerning the amount of money spent for construction projects and the county’s total evaluation. Lois Schelgel, Pottawatomie County Appraiser, said the count’s total evaluation is around 1.5 billion dollars. The office also had updates on sales within the county for the month of February and change of value notices.
Lisa Wright, Pottawatomie County Treasurer, informed the commission about a new motor vehicle system that will go live on May 1st. Wright told the commission dates that the office would be closed in order to test the system and for the system to go live. Those dates are April 5th and April 30th-May 9th. Wright also said that during the office closing from April 30th-May 9th the Treasurers Office will still be accepting and processing taxes during that time frame.
