Wade Hinkle hit a towering tie-breaking two-run homer in the seventh inning, and K-State won a wild 9-7 series opener over Sacred Heart on Thursday night at Tointon Family Stadium.  11 runs went up on the board in the first inning, first four by the Pioneers, followed by seven by the Cats including a Dan Klein grand slam.  The scoreboard went quiet for the next five innings before Sacred Heart tied the game with three runs in the top of the 7th before Hinkle’s blast.  Robert Youngdahl took his first win as a Wildcat out of the bullpen and Nate Williams earned his fourth save.

Game 2 between K-State and Sacred Heart coming up tonight right here on Sports Radio 1350. Joe Flattery set to toe the rubber for Kansas State. First pitch at 6:30. Pregame coverage starts at 6:00.
