An asphalt overlay project starting today is expected to be completed Tuesday, but another is expected throughout the week.
Leon Hobson, Riley County Public Works Director, says the second project will begin following the completion of Blue Ridge Road.
“Beginning on Wednesday, our asphalt crews will continue the asphalt overlay project starting on Blue River Hills Road at the intersection with Blue Ridge Road then proceeding West and South to U.S. Highway 24,” Hobson says.
Hobson adds area residents may want to avoid driving through the project area.
“The road will be reduced to one lane,” Hobson says. “Drivers should expect delays up to 15 minutes.”
With fresh asphalt oil being applied to the road, drivers are advised to take alternate routes. The schedule for the project may change this week due to weather or unexpected delays.
