After weeks of going through the processes to fill the vacant seat, Beth Tatarko was chosen at Wednesday night’s Manhattan Ogden school board meeting.

Board Vice President Dave Colburn explains this process was a difficult one with so many great candidates …adding this is probably one of the least pleasant things the board has had to do.

Tatarko will be sworn in at a later date.

Tatarko had served on the school board in previous years.

Meanwhile, a reminder Doug Messer left the position as the Manhattan Ogden School Board president recently which left that vacancy, but he hasn’t left the district.

At the board meeting, Messer took the position of Director of Transportation and he explains that this position is like coming home for him…

Messer will begin his new position on June 4th.

The board also recognized the recent retirees.  There were a total of 27 individuals where were recognized and they include Mike Boatwright, Vicki Brodersen, Suzanne Burnett, Terry Carpenter, Gayle Connet, Joan Dougherty, Sally Frick, Vicky Hammerschmidt, Martha Harper, Melanie Heath, Ron Janes, Carol Kaufholz, Bonnie Kuehne, Elizabeth Mathews, Linda Mathews, Ann Micklos, Jo Petty, Donna Sears, Barbara Smith, Linda Stewart, Kay Stith, Barbara Sylvester, Kathy Tilly, Tongta Watson, Nancy Woodford, Shirley Zentz and Linda Zimmerman.
