    – The 2011-12 school year has been one to remember for the Rock Creek boys.  First the Mustangs advanced to the semifinals of the 3A state playoffs on the gridiron with a narrow one point loss to Silver Lake, followed a fourth place finish at the state basketball tournament.  Now, the Rock Creek baseball team will join the fold with a trip to Tointon Family Stadium for state next Friday and Saturday.  The Mustangs (21-2) beat Bennington 7-2 in the regional semifinals on Tuesday night at Leonardville, and then a 5-2 victory over Riley County in the finals.

    – The Rock Creek softball team also punched their ticket to state with a 3A regional championship on Tuesday night in Beloit.  The Mustangs took down Bennington 11-0 in the regional semifinals, while Marysville beat Riley County 9-2 in the other semi.  Rock Creek (17-6) then beat the Bulldogs 4-3 to clinch a spot a Twin Oaks in Manhattan next weekend.

    – It’s 21 up and 21 down for the Wamego softball team as the Lady Raiders battled thru a tough regional on Tuesday night in Chapman.  Emilee Chrest hit a go-ahead homer in the bottom of the 6th to give a 2-1 win over Abilene in the semifinals, and the Lady Raiders edged Holton 4-3 in the finals.  Wamego (21-0) will head to Salina next weekend for the 4A state tournament and is sure to be one of the top seeds.
