WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Two bronze American flags embossed in Braille will be unveiled Saturday in Wichita before later being installed at entrances to the Robert. J. Dole Veterans Administration Medical Center.
The Wichita Eagle reports the Braille flags are a tribute to blind veterans of all wars.
The unveiling at West Douglas park will take place two days after the nation observes Flag Day. The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature guest speakers as well as presentations by two American Legion posts. It’s free and open to the public.
President Woodrow Wilson officially established Flag Day on May 30, 1916. More than three decades later, President Harry Truman signed a measure designating June 14 as National Flag Day.
