The Junction City Fire Department responded to a structure fire on the 1400 block of Calhoun Saturday, June 9th around 6:45 p.m. The call required: 2 Engines, 1 Ladder Truck, 2 Medic Units and 1 Command Vehicle staffed by 14 personnel.
On arrival they found 3 apartments of a 12 unit apartment building well involved. The fire was controlled in 30 minutes, but the three apartments involved received heavy damage from not only fire, but dark gray smoke.
The estimated loss is $130,000 dollars to property and contents. 19 people are being assisted by The American Red Cross due to the damage from the fire.
The JCFD was assisted by the Junction City Police Department, Fort Riley Fire Department, Fort Riley EMS, The American Red Cross, Westar and Kansas Gas.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time and there were no injuries.
