    String of Fires Investigated as Arson

    A string of intentionally set fires around the area of Denison is now being viewed as aggravated arson.

    The first fire was set around 2:30 a.m. Monday. Fire was set to a range stove at 1803 College Heights St. # 8. The apartment is owned by McCullough Development and was empty at the time of the incident.

    The next incident occurred in the parking lot of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, 1015 Denison Ave. Austin Burgeron’s , 23, 2001 Ford Ranger sustained small amounts of damage from a fire set in the bed.

    Just down at 1021 Dension Ave., a 2000 Chevy Cavalier had also sustained significant fire damage.

    The last incident occurred to a 2010 Nissan Frontier, at 1020 Quivera Cir., which also sustained major fire damage.

    The total estimated loss for all four incidents is around $22,000.

    Manhattan Fire and Riley County Police Departments are still investigating the incident.
