Hopes were high that Wichita native, and Miami, Florida transfer Arthur Brown would blossom for K-State a year ago.  Brown, now a senior middle linebacker, did so in a big way, becoming the first Wildcat in half a decade to pile up double digit tackles.  He added nine and a half stops for loss, an interception, and helped lead K-State to 10 wins and a Cotton Bowl berth.  The reigning Big 12 defensive newcomer of the year is rolling in the preseason accolades this month, Brown has now been named to both the Butkus & Lombardi Awards watch list.  The Butkus Award is presented to the nation’s best linebacker, he’s one of 51 players nationally to receive the nod and one of three from the Big 12.  The Lombardi Award honors the best college defensive lineman or linebacker.

Brown earlier this month was named to the Chuck Bednarik & Bronko Nagurski award watch lists, which both select the top overall defensive player in the country.
