Around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday evening, Brian Kintzel Jr. (23) of Manhattan, was driving a blue 2005 Chevy Trail Blazer SUV traveling westbound on the 1800 block of Wildcat Creek Road.  Kintzel lost control and caused the vehicle to roll into the south ditch where it struck a fence and broke a gate.

Timothy Wilson (20), of Fort Riley, was seated in the passenger seat during the accident.

Both men were injured and transported by EMS to Mercy Regional Health Center.  Riley County Police indicated there was a head injury, shoulder injury and a leg gash wound.

Kintzel was treated and released, and Wilson was admitted.

Both men were wearing seat belts during the accident, but speed is said to be a possible factor in this accident.  Kintzel was cited for cell phone texting.

Riley County Police want to remind Kansans that texting is illegal in the state, and any cell phone use at all is illegal in Manhattan.

One damaged glass window and numerous stolen items leave two Manhattan residents with a huge loss.

Sometime between 7:45 A.M. and 11:45 A.M. Tuesday,a double pain glass door was broken into at the home of Gordon Hibbard (59) and  Karen Hibbard (56).

There is a total loss of $1,000 for the damage to the door, and Hibbard reported an unknown amount of guns and electronics had been taken as well.
