Riley County standout and K-State freshman-to-be Kelly Thomson scored 16 points in the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association all-star game on Thursday night in Topeka. Thomson proved she’s one of the best shooters in the state by draining four three pointers, and tying the game-high in points with Highland Park post Shanise Brooks. Their Blue team though lost to the White, 79-69 at Washburn University in Topeka.
In the boys’ game, Clint McCullough of St. James Academy scored 28 points to lead the White to a 112-101 win over the Blue. Clint is headed to William Jewell in Liberty, MO, and is the brother of former K-Stater Carolyn McCullough.
Before the game, the 1994 Topeka West girls basketball 6A state championship team was honored. That Charger team, coached by Mike Goehring, was the fourth 6A team to go undefeated.
