HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) Both suspects in what authorities have described as a mistaken-identity killing in Hutchinson have now had their trials postponed.
Billy Joe Craig and Charles Christopher Logsdon are charged with first-degree murder in the 2011 shooting death of Jennifer Heckel. Investigators have said they believe the men planned to rob someone else and went to the wrong house.
The Hutchinson News reports that a Reno County judge granted a continuance this week for Craig, who was scheduled for trial Nov. 13. No new date was immediately set.
Logsdon’s trial has been rescheduled from Sept. 24 to Oct. 22.
Craig’s attorney was appointed in late May and says he’s going through a “mountain of evidence” from the district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors have requested to endorse more than 255 witnesses.
