One of the staples of coach Bill Snyder’s 21-year tenure at K-State is ball control and field position, and both were on full display in the Cats’ 24-19 win at Oklahoma. K-State controlled the ball for nearly 35 minutes, and pinned OU inside their own 25 on seven of ten possessions. Wildcat senior punter Ryan Doerr kicked five times on Saturday, and every boot resulted in the Sooners starting a drive inside their 20-yard line. The Big 12 Conference named Doerr as its special teams player of the week.
K-State has this Saturday off and will host the Sunflower Showdown against rival Kansas for the first time in three years on October 6th. Kickoff has been set for 11:00am at Bill Snyder Stadium and will be nationally televised by FX. Powercat Gameday will start our coverage on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN and 101.5 K-Rock at 7:00am.
