K-State moves up in polls, Alabama the new #1

K-State moves up one spot in both the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches’ polls this week.  The Cats are now #21 in the media poll and # 20 in the coaches.  K-State is fresh off a 51-9 victory over Missouri State last Saturday, and will host Miami of Florida this week at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.  The Hurricanes opened the season last week by winning at Boston College 41-32.

Oklahoma is still the highest ranked Big 12 team in the AP poll, but they slid down a spot to #5.  The league now has a pair of top ten teams as West Virginia is tied for #9 in the country.  Texas dropped two spots to #17 this week, Oklahoma State is up to #18, and TCU holds steady at #20 as they open the season this week against Grambling State.

Alabama is the new #1 in the AP poll, moving past now-#2 USC after its resounding victory against Michigan.  LSU is ranked third, followed by Oregon and Oklahoma.

The Cats and Hurricanes kick off this Saturday at 11:00am, and Powercat Gameday will start our coverage at 7:00am on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN and 101.5 K-Rock.  Wildcat legends Kevin Lockett and Dirk Ochs will join Matt Walters, John Kurtz and Corey Dean.
