Manhattan City Commissioners approved the 2011 tax audit during a Tuesday night legislative session at Manhattan City Hall.
Mayor Loren Pepperd had a few pointed questions on procedures to the auditors, and was given the answers by auditors and local experts such as Kansas State university’s head of finance department Dr. Eric Higgins.
Manhattan Director of Finance Bernie Hayen said this audit was the mostly heavily vetted procedure since he retook office, and appreciated the work done by the auditors and his staff.
All items on the consent agenda were passed. A contract negotiation for improvements for the parks and recreations office divided the commission with John Matta, and Wynn Butler voting against it due to questions and concerns on financing the project.
