Pelger hits milestone as K-State smacks West Virginia

Kaitlynn Pelger became the 16th player at K-State to reach the 1,000 kill plateau with 13 kills on Thursday night in a sweep over West Virginia.  The Cats quickly dispatched the newest Big 12 member, defeating the Mountaineers 25-8, 25-19, 25-17 at Ahearn Fieldhouse.  K-State hit .368 as a team, which is a big nod to the play of senior setter Caitlyn Donahue, who had 38 assists.  She added a team-high 11 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.  Tristan McCarty led a great K-State (14-1, 1-1 Big 12) effort from the service line with three aces.  Alex Muff and Lilla Porubek each had 3 blocks.  Porubek had a career high with a pair of solo blocks.  Nikki Attea led West Virginia (8-8, 0-3) with six kills.

K-State will make the trip to Baylor this weekend, a place they haven’t won since 2008.  The Cats and Bears have a 7:00pm first serve on Saturday night at the Ferrell Center, and the Standard Plumbing, Heating & Air pregame show will be at 6:30 on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN.
