Lilla Porubek posted 16 kills as K-State volleyball swept host Creighton 25-22, 25-18, 25-21 in the Bluejay Invitational on Saturday afternoon in Omaha. Porubek had at least five kills in each of the three sets for the Cats. K-State rallied from a 18-15 deficit to Creighton in the first set, finishing with a 10-4 flurry. The Cats trailed the Bluejays 10-6 in set two, before scoring 19 of the final 27 points. But, it was K-State in the final frame who jumped out to an 18-5 lead, before allowing Creighton to close within three at 24-21 as the Cats then got match point. K-State (5-0) also was paced by Kathleen Ludwig and Kaitlynn Pelger with eight kills each, and Caitlyn Donahue had 40 assists. Creighton (4-1) was led by freshman Melanie Jereb with eight kills.
K-State will go for their sixth straight win to open the season on Saturday afternoon at 5:30pm back at Creighton. The Orange (3-2) lost their first two matches of the Bluejay Invitational in straight sets to Creighton and Denver. Tune into 1350KMAN.com for exclusive coverage at 5:00pm.
