A theft at a yard sale results in a huge loss for a local man.  

Riley County police told reporters on Monday that  Duran Salido (45) of the  500th block of 10th St. in Ogden reported to them that while he was having a yard sale on Saturday, an unknown suspect or suspects removed several items of worth that were for sale without paying.

Salido says that while he was showing another person the inside of the dwelling, three laptop computers, an ipad, and a tablet PC were stolen. Total loss is $1,400.

Police are investigating.

Riley County Police told reporters on Monday that property had been stolen from outside a local residence. The victim,  Jon Held (57) of Labelle, Florida reports that that a canoe valued at $1,000 and an accompanying trailer valued at $500 were taken from his property located at the 6000 block of 59th St.

The suspect is unknown and police are investigating.

A local fraternity house is the victim of a burglary.

Member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity house, located on the 500th block of Denison Rd, reported to Riley County Police that sometime between 3:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. on Saturday, two composite pictures from 1990 and 1991 valued at $500 each and a flat screen television valued at $300 were taken from the property. Total loss is $1,300.

The suspects are unknown and police are investigating.

A Manhattan man is behind bars after using a stolen credit card to go on a spending spree.

Riley County Police told reporters  on Monday that Jeffrey Hughes (39) of the 700th block of Kearney, was taken into custody Friday evening and charged with criminal use of a financial card.

Hughes had allegedly used the stolen card to make small purchases at a variety of Manhattan businesses , with the largest charge being $76. He is currently being held on a $5,000 bond.

Riley County police told reporters on Monday that drug charges led to the arrest of an Illinois man. Austin Miller (19) of Libertyville, Illinois was taken into custody Friday morning and charged with the sale or distribution of a hallucinogen and obstructing the legal process.

Miller was released on a $5,000 bond.

Riley County Police told reporters on Monday that an arrest was made at Bill Snyder Family Stadium before Saturday’s game.

Deairio  Starks (24) was taken into custody Saturday afternoon on failure to appear charges.

Starks is currently being held on a $50,000 bond.
