The Pottawatomie County Commissioners had a few items to discuss at their meeting on Monday, most of which consisted work done by SMH Consultants.
Buck Driggs, vice president of SMH Consultants, gave an update concerning the new Justice Center. Later this week, Driggs hopes to have the second floor poured. The interior of the building and the roof were also discussed. Driggs is hoping to have the roof on by late November and to have the building enclosed so work can begin inside by early January.
Driggs also brought a report on the Marlatt / Junietta project to the commissioners. Last week, the project was taken to the Kansas Department of Transportation for consideration, along with a number of other projects from the northeastern district. But after breaking off into groups, it was discovered that the Marlatt / Junietta project was among the top three within most of the break-off groups. K-Dot is expected to have a list of projects by January.
The commissioners also heard from Leu Lowery, public works director, about getting roads and bridges ready for the winter season.
Bruce Brazzle, fire supervisor, also reported the change in the bid opening date for the new EMS building in Pottawatomie County. The date is now set for November 19 at 10:30 am.
