Election day has arrived–and in addition to the Presidential race results many of us are most curious about, there are several issues of local interest as well. The polls are open until seven p.m.
The proposed half-cent sales tax renewal in Riley County has generated a lot of attention this time around, and two Riley County Commission positions are up for grabs with incumbents not seeking re-election. District Two features Democrat Scott Seel and Republican Robert Boyd, and District Three includes Republican Ron Wells and Democrat Rod Harms.
The area State Senate Seat District 22 is being sought by Republican Bob Reader and Democrat Tom Hawk.
State House seats include the new 51st District with Democrat Richard Pikul and Republican Ron Highland, 66th featuring Republican Lee Modesitt and incumbent Democrat Sydney Carlin, and the 67th district with Democrat Aaron Estabrook and Republican Tom Phillips.
Many other races in Riley county and basically all the races in Pottawatomie County involve unopposed candidates.
Again, polls close at seven p.m., and KMAN news will be bringing you non-stop coverage throughout the evening.
