A fatal one vehicle accident was reported in Geary county Thanksgiving day.
John Kaneaster, 48, of Abilene died after the 2004 Chevrolet pickup he was driving westbound on I-70 went off the roadway into the median. The truck crossed the median and both eastbound lanes of the highway, with the vehicle continuing across to the eastbound 301 exit ramp and entering a south ditch. The truck struck a tree and the vehicle rolled on to its top.
A passenger in the vehicle, John Kaneaster Jr., 13, of Florida was taken to Geary Community Hospital.
The accident was reported shortly before noon Thursday. Both Kaneasters were wearing seatbelts.
