Five players reached double figures in kills as K-State breezed through the first set against rival KU 25-13 on Wednesday night at Ahearn Fieldhouse.  But the Jayhawks claimed the season sweep in the Sunflower Showdown by winning the final three sets over the Wildcats, 28-26, 26-24, 27-25.  K-State (20-5, 7-5 Big 12) was led offensively by Courtney Traxson and Kaitlynn Pelger with 13 kills each.  Lilla Porubek contributed 12 kills, Kathleen Ludwig had 11, and Alex Muff added 10.   Setter Caitlyn Donahue had 53 assists, and Ludwig led K-State with 15 digs.  Muff and Pelger each posted five blocks.

KU (21-5, 9-3 Big 12) was topped by Sara McClinton’s 16 kills, and Manhattan High grad Catherine Carmichael came through with 14 kills.

K-State will try to break a two-match losing streak on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm against TCU at Ahearn Fieldhouse.  The broadcast will begin at 2:30, and will be available at kstatesports.com and K-State HDTV.
