    The Riley County Police Department received word from the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office that there have been an number of thefts from vehicles over the past month.

    According to RCPD, the thefts have been from the tool box of pick-up trucks parked in hotel or motel parking lots.

    The most recent theft occurred sometime between Wednesday at 7 pm and Thursday at 7 am at the Comfort Suites at 1020 Hostetler Drive.

    Timothy McGuigan, 53, employee for Pocono Propane out of Pennsylvanian , reported that $1100 worth of miscellaneous tools were taken from the unsecured tool box in the back of the pickup truck. 

    There was no damage to the vehicle and at this point there are no suspects.

    USD 383 has seen a couple of lockdowns recently.

    Thursday at about 4:10 pm, the Riley County Police Department received word from Woodrow Wilson Elementary, located at 312 Juliette, that there was a young male wandering the school grounds with what looked like a rifle.

    RCPD told the school to go into a lockdown.

    Upon investigation, it turned out that the suspect was a 13 year old male who had a toy gun. 

    RCPD reports that no crime occurred with this incident.
