TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) A 53-year-old Topeka man has been sentenced to life in prison for sexually assaulting two young girls and shooting video of the attack.

Carl Eugene Manis pleaded guilty Oct. 2 to one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a child younger than 14. He was sentenced Friday.

The Topeka Capital-Journal (http://bit.ly/YBiQf8) reports prosecutors and his defense attorney agreed to recommend Manis receive a life sentence. He will be eligible for parole when he is 77.

The two girls, who were 6 and 8 years old at the time but not related, were visiting their fathers when they were assaulted by Manis, who lived at the same location.

Manis was arrested Sept. 8, 2011, after a DVD with video of him fondling the girls was found in a suitcase and viewed.
