Car museum closed this week after man having medical episode crashes vehicle into building

Automotive enthusiasts hoping to visit the Midwest Dream Car Collection this week will have to rearrange their plans. The museum announced a temporary closure following a single-vehicle crash on Friday that damaged the building and several cars in it.

A Riley County police spokesman said Tuesday that 58-year-old John R. Smith of Manhattan had a medical episode in his Subaru Forester, which caused him to lose control of the vehicle and drive through the front of the museum. Smith’s wife reportedly took him to Via Christi hospital. There is no police investigation into the incident.
