K-State Women thump South Dakota 68-54, move to 7-0

While the weather outside Bramlage Coliseum quite cold on Sunday afternoon, the shooting was hot especially when it came to Brittany Chambers of the K-State Women’s Basketball team. Chambers scored a game-high 29 points and reached a significant milestone as the Wildcats remained undefeated with a 68-54 victory over South Dakota.

The standout Senior became the 10th player in the 45-year history of the Women’s program to pass 1,500 points and is just one of three players to ever surpass 1,500 points, 625 rebounds and 250 assists joining legends Nicole Ohlde and Kendra Wecker. Chambers’ 638 rebounds put her 13th on the all-time list.

After K-State opened up a 10-2 lead the Coyotes clawed back to cut the lead to two points….K-State then closed the first half on a 14-2 run to lead 37-21 at halftime and continued the onslaught into the second half. South Dakota on the other hand was ice cold from the floor going more than seven and a half minutes without scoring a single point and over nine minutes without a field goal.

Freshman Brianna Craig also contributed with 14 points in perhaps the best game of her young career to date.

Now heading into Finals Week, K-State will have a week off before its next contest, another Sunday afternoon affair against Texas-El Paso. Tipoff at Bramlage on December 16 is set for 1 p.m.
