A 17-3 run to close the first half gave the K-State women a 36-34 lead at halftime against Kansas, but the Wildcats went cold in the final 20 minutes, and Kansas prevailed 72-63 at Allen Fieldhouse on Wednesday night in Lawrence.  K-State trailed 31-19 with 4:46 left in the first half when their surge began including the final 11 points of the half.  Haley Texada scored 11 of her 21 points during that run.  However, KU would jump quickly out to a 46-40 lead with 14:36 remaining, and pushed their edge to as many as 10 points.  The Cats pulled within 56-52 at the 7:24 mark, but would get no closer to the Jayhawks the rest of the way.

Two players joined Texada in double figures for K-State (9-4, 0-1 Big 12), Brittany Chambers had 15 points, while Lawrence Free State grad Chantay Caron chipped in with 11.  Mariah White posted an impressive stat line of six points, seven rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  Angel Goodrich led KU (11-2, 1-0 Big 12) with 17 points and nine assists.  Natalie Knight had 16 points, and Carolyn Davis added 14.

The K-State women will host TCU in their Big 12 home opener on Saturday night at 6:00pm inside Bramlage Coliseum.  Coverage on SportsRadio 1350 KMAN begins at 5:30 from the K-State Sports Network.
