Riley County Police arrested a Manhattan man in connection with an altercation that took place early Saturday morning. According to a press release from Riley County Police Public Information officer and Sargeant Brad Ingalls, 33-year old Shannon Ayers of Manhattan flagged down an officer shortly after 1 a.m. Saturday and said he had been struck by a male subject identified as 47-year old Anthony Murphy also of Manhattan.

Ayers told police he was trying to intervene in an altercation between Murphy and an unidentified female at her home in Northeast Manhattan. As Ayers tried to break up the altercation, he had sustained minor injuries. Officers then arrived at the 32-year old woman’s home and began their investigation. The woman told authorities that Murphy attacked her in her home and also took away her cell phone to prevent her from calling police. The woman also suffered minor injuries but it’s not known if she was transferred for treatment.

Murphy was arrested for Aggravated Robbery, Aggravated Battery, Intimidation of a Victim or a Witness, and Battery. Murphy is currently being held at the Riley County Jail on $20,000 bond.
