For the fourth time in seven weeks, K-State senior guard Rodney McGruder has been named the Big 12 player of the week. McGruder passes first team all-American Michael Beasley for most weekly league honors in a single season for a Wildcat. Beasley was tabbed Big 12 player of the week three times during the 2007-2008 season.
McGruder posted back-to-back 20-point scoring efforts in a pair of K-State wins last week. He scored 21 points, grabbed five rebounds, and dished out three assists in the Cats’ 67-54 victory at TCU on Wednesday night. McGruder hit four of nine three point attempts en route to 20 points along with three assists in Saturday’s 69-60 K-State win over Oklahoma.
Kansas freshman guard Ben McLemore was named Big 12 rookie of the week for the second time this season.
